Happy New Year!!  I trust your holidays have been full and meaningful.  As we come to the end of 2015 and are looking forward to 2016, I encourage you to take some time to reflect on how 2015.

Humans are wired toward growth and expansion.  In fact, in nature nothing ever stays the same.  All living things are either growing and expanding or disintegrating and dying.  High achievers are especially geared toward growth and are constantly looking ahead toward the next goal to conquer and the next mountain that needs to be scaled to get what they want.  Focusing on what you want can be very motivating AND it can also be very discouraging.

When you reach one goal, you automatically set another.  As a result, it can begin to feel like you Happy Momentsaren’t really making progress.  That’s when it is important to turn around and admire how far you have come.  There may be 5 more miles of the marathon before you cross the finish line, but you have already conquered 21 miles.  That is something to celebrate!

Evaluating what you have already accomplished and taking the time to celebrate it will inspire you to keep going and can (if you let it) make the journey more enjoyable.  Learning how to be happy in the here and now and appreciating what you already have makes it easier to reach your goals.

Once you have reviewed the past year, then you can take everything you learned and begin planning for the year ahead.  As a holiday gift, here is a link to a worksheet that will help you review 2015 and begin to consciously plan 2016 based on how you want to feel everyday.

Review and Planning worksheet

Once you complete it, I’d love to hear what you learned from 2015 and where you are headed in 2016.  Leave your thoughts in the comments below.  Happy New year!!
